Participants should be prepared to walk 5 miles round trip on the beach (Note: The BBC does not drive vehicles on the beach to protect the endangered birds that nest there.) This trip will continue as the Plymouth Airport trip. Target endangered breeding species: Piping Plover, Roseate Tern.

Plymouth Airport for grassland sparrows

With permission from the airport manager, we will be allowed to go inside the second fence line onto the airport, closed to the general public, in search of the grassland birds which nest at the airport. Note: This trip can be cancelled at any time, without notice, for homeland security reasons! Target endangered breeding species: Upland Sandpiper, Vesper Sparrow, Grasshopper Sparrow.

This trip is for the marsh sparrows and white-eyed vireo. This is the best spot in Massachusetts to observe both nesting marsh sparrows (Saltmarsh and Seaside) up close and personal. Note: The time is approximate since the leader is completing his breeding bird survey route prior to this trip.

This will be an exciting trip with the occasional surprise. Mourning Warbler has always been a specialty of this trip. Enjoy the warblers and other neotropical migrants we observed during spring migration. Co-sponsored by the South Shore Bird Club. This trip will end around 3pm, then reconvene for dinner and an evening trip to Post Farm Marsh, Lenox. Target special concern breeding species: Pied-billed Grebe, Common Gallinule, Blackpoll Warbler, Mourning Warbler.

This trip has more diversity than the prior day’s as we begin along the Housatonic River WMA and make our way over October Mountain. Multiple habitats make this trip more diversified than the Greylock trip. Co-sponsored by the South Shore Bird Club. Target endangered breeding species: American Bittern, Mourning Warbler.
