CANCELLED – Participants should be prepared to walk 5 miles round trip on the beach (Note: The BBC does not drive vehicles on the beach to protect the endangered birds that nest there.) This trip will continue as the Plymouth Airport trip. Target endangered breeding species: Piping Plover, Roseate Tern.
CANCELLED – We will canoe/kayak along Still River in search of rare state marsh breeders Sora, Virginia and King Rails, both bitterns and Common Moorhen, as well as various duck species. Afterwards we will hike the Pine Hill section if there is interest.
CANCELLED – With permission from the airport manager, we will be allowed to go inside the second fence line onto the airport, closed to the general public, in search of the grassland birds which nest at the airport. Cancelled – We will search for warblers, vireos, flycatchers, thrushes, tanagers and other colorful travelers at this urban migrant trap located in Boston’s Mission Hill neighborhood. Expeted species include Bay-breasted, Cape May and Chestnut-sided warblers plus rarities seen here such as Gray-cheeked Thrush.
Cancelled – In the evening this area can be full of the sounds of singing Indigo Buntings, flycatchers, grosbeaks and several thrush species often including Veery. Co-sponsored with Minute Man NHP.
Cancelled – About 2 hours. A guided 1.25-mile tour to view one of the largest populations of Upland Sandpipers in New England as well as Grasshopper Sparrow, Bobolink, and other edge birds.
