Meet at 7:00 a.m. at the gated end of East Gardner Road, 3 miles north of the Route 2/Route 140 intersection (Exit 25) via Town Farm Road to East Gardner Road, Westminster. Please be prepared to walk.
Quabbin Reservoir, gates 43 - 35 (all day)
The Connecticut River Valley agricultural fields in Hadley and Northampton are a magnet for southbound migrants, wintering waterfowl, and raptors, and have hosted numerous rare species. We will visit several “hot spots” depending on the most recent bird sightings.
Our 4-mile hike for early spring arrivals winds through diverse habitats in this large, historic property.
Our annual auto trip, permitted by Massachusetts DCR, takes us inside the gates and over the back roads of East Quabbin. We will make frequent stops to walk or scope the water.
